Charles Frederick Wilson

Jul 10, 1938 — Aug 1, 2026

Charles Fredrick Wilson SR (88), of Lakeside Park, KY passed away peacefully at his home on August 1, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on July 10, 1938, Charlie was a man who believed in hard work, loyalty, and living life on his own terms. An Operating Engineer for more than 50 years. He spent much of his career with Carlisle Construction where he earned the honor of Craftsman of the Year and other awards. Construction wasn't just a job to Charlie, it was who he was. He was a true roughneck, as tough as they come, never afraid of hard work or getting his hands dirty. Those who worked alongside him knew they could count on him, and those who knew him best understood that beneath his rugged exterior was a man with a big heart.

Charlie found happiness in the simple things in life. He loved spending time hunting and fishing, trying his luck playing Keno, and relaxing with friends at Edgewood Tavern while, where he was well known and never turned down the chance to enjoy a drink or two and good conversation. Whether swapping stories over a cold beer served by “Wiggles” and sharing laughs with friends, Charlie had a way of making people feel at home.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joan Wilson, whose memory he carried with him always, his sister Carolyn Marshall, and by his parents, Fred and Marie Wilson.

Charlie is survived by his son, Charles Wilson Jr.; his daughter, Joanetta Wilson; his grandsons, Christopher Wilson, Brandon Finnell, and Charles Wilson III; his granddaughter, Drew Wilson; his great-grandson, Rieder (Jade) Finnell; his brother, Fred Wilson; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Charlie wasn't a man of fancy words. He was the kind of man who showed his love through hard work, loyalty, and always being there when it mattered. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories, stories that will be told for years to come, and a family who was proud to call him their father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

His boots may be set aside now, but the legacy of the hardworking, strong, and unforgettable man who wore them will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.

Rest easy, Charlie. You've earned your peace
