Donald L. Day, 90, of Independence, a cherished family man and dedicated sports enthusiast, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 10, 1935, in Cincinnati, Donald lived a life rich in passion and connection.
He is survived by his devoted children: sons James Day (Shannon), Todd Day, and Jeff Day, along with his daughter Lisa Townsend, 12 grandchildren and 17 great-granchildren. They will forever hold his memories close to their hearts and take comfort in the time shared together.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lura Day; parents, Herman Day and Eva Wilde Day, as well as several brothers and sisters, who welcomed him into their eternal rest.
A man of varied interests, Donald was a die-hard fan of the Cincinnati Reds and the Bengals. His spirited support for these teams was a source of joy for him, as was his time spent engaging in his favorite hobbies. An avid bowler, he found great pleasure in the sport and regularly participated in matches. He also cherished the time spent outdoors, taking pride in his yard work and tending to his garden.
His family invites all who knew him to come together to remember and celebrate his life during a memorial gathering to be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Covington, Kentucky. The gathering will start on March 10, 2025, at 5:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM.
Donald L. Day's gentle spirit, devotion to family, and enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
