Crestview Hills

Emmett Kyle Hammond, Jr., 85, of Crestview Hills, born on March 26, 1940 in Hampton, Virginia, departed this life peacefully on September 3, 2025, at Madonna Manor, surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved member of the Erlanger Baptist Church for over 40 years.  Emmett was a distinguished professional who served as Chief Pharmacist at the Appalachian Regional Hospital (ARH) and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) for over 40 years total, retiring from the Cincinnati VAMC after more than 25 years of service. He continually demonstrated unwavering commitment to healthcare and the well-being of others.

Emmett's educational journey culminated in both a Doctorate in Pharmacy and a Masters in Business Administration, a testament to his dedication to his field and his desire to serve those in need. He was a natural born leader whose progressive management yielded advancements and recognition in Pharmacy for the hospitals in which he was employed. He was also a proud Army Veteran,  who served his country with honor.

Emmett had a deep love for his family, friends and pet cats.  Emmett took great joy in his role as "papaw".  He was always up for eating out, putting on a movie, hitting some tennis balls or just hanging out.  He thoroughly enjoyed participating in all the grandparent school events.  He had a great passion for tennis, coordinating tennis leagues, and playing with anyone he could round up. He loved inspiring fellow tennis players to take up and continue the sport.  Emmett loved traveling as much as possible, with immediate family or friends, keeping the roads to Branson, Gatlinburg and Hilton Head hot.

Emmett is survived by his son, Keith Hammond (Amy), and daughter, Elizabeth O'Connell (Tom), along with his cherished grandchildren; Hillary, Emily, Steven, Erin, Meghan, and Molly. He also leaves behind his sister, Betty Colonna; sister in law Cathy Chase, and four nieces who will remember him fondly and hold his memory close.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sena Hammond, who passed on March 24, 2025, and his parents, Emmett Kyle Hammond, Sr., and Hazel Taylor Hammond.
