Gary Hoskinds, 78, of Ryland Heights, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2026. A man of quiet brilliance and a legendary sense of humor, Gary was known by all as someone who could fix literally anything.
Gary retired from The National Elevator Service, where he spent many dedicated years as a master of his craft. Gary's intelligence was matched only by his work ethic; whether he was tending to the farm or solving a mechanical puzzle, he approached every task with a sharp mind and a capable hand. He loved spending most of his time outdoors and on his tractor. When he wasn't working, Gary found his greatest peace on the water fishing with his beloved wife and soulmate, Angie. Celebrating 60 years of marriage, April 30. To see one was to see the other-the very definition of true love.
Some of Gary's favorite moments were spent tackling projects with his daughter, Renee. Every finished project was just another memory they built together. Gary also spent a lot of time being the greatest Papa two granddaughters could ever have! Above all, Gary is a hero in the eyes of his wife, daughter, son, granddaughters, and family.
A remarkable man who cherished every moment with his loved ones, he was a man of few wasted words but many laughs, leaving behind a legacy of strength, ingenuity, and a family who adored him. "Don't look back in the rearview mirror... you're no longer going that way!" -Gary H.
Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Angie Hoskinds; his daughter, Renee Hoskinds; and his granddaughters, Brittany and Brooke Hoskinds. He is also survived by his siblings: Dave Hoskinds, Carol Jerauld, Patricia (Pete) Reynolds, Ida Wiseman, Larry (Gloria) Hoskinds, along with many nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Art (Ottilia/Linda) Hoskinds, and his son, Garry Ray Hoskinds Jr.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, where visitation will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Gary Hoskinds.
