James Frederick Goodridge
June 7, 1939 – March 6, 2026
James Frederick Goodridge, 86, of Burlington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2026. Born on June 7, 1939, in Cincinnati, Ohio, James lived a life defined by hard work, deep devotion to his family, and an enduring love for the simple joys that make life rich.
A man of remarkable talent and dedication, James spent 50 distinguished years as a chemical engineer with Shepherd Chemical, where his expertise and integrity left a lasting mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him. His career was a testament to his intellect, discipline, and commitment to excellence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James was proudly named a Kentucky Colonel — a fitting honor for a man whose character embodied the grace, hospitality, and strength that title represents. He was also a passionate University of Kentucky basketball fan, and few things brought him greater delight than cheering on the Wildcats with family and friends.
Some of James's most cherished moments were spent out on the water at Lake Cumberland, where his love of boating offered him peace, adventure, and precious time with those he loved most. The lake held a special place in his heart, and the memories made there will live on in the hearts of all who joined him.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Arnold Goodridge, whose memory he carried with him every day. He is survived by his two brothers, Fred and Dan; his six children, Julie, Danny, Dean, Doug, Ashley, and Matthew; and ten grandchildren who were the joy of his later years.
James Goodridge will forever be remembered as a loving, generous, and devoted husband and father. His warmth, wisdom, and steadfast love touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He leaves behind not only a family who adored him, but a legacy of integrity and kindness that will endure for generations to come. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A, with Pastor Mike Sweeney officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 10-11 AM. Interment at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Floral Hills is honored to serve the Goodridge family.
~ Rest in peace, James. You were deeply loved. ~
