James Allen Mefford

James "Bimbo" Allen Mefford, age 70, of Independence, passed away at home on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.  Born on a leap year, February 29, 1956, to Harry Sr. and Beulah Mefford, he is preceded in passing by his parents.  Also preceding James in passing is his step-son, James Soult and his sisters, Virginia Mardis (George) and Anna Mefford.

Those left to remember James are his daughter, Jaime Gegner (Adam); his step-children, Brandon Soult, Brianna Soult, and Janice Harrison (Mike); his siblings, Harry "Jay" Mefford Jr. and Juanita Mardis (Gary); and his grandchildren, Lee, James, Lindsey, and Ashley Robinson, Ethan and Hannah Bell, and James Allen Soult.

James spent many years as a truck driver, working hard to provide for his family while taking pride in an honest day's work. When he wasn't on the road, he could often be found surrounded by the people he loved most; enjoying a good cookout or family gathering.  He knew a good party when he saw one and never missed an opportunity to create memories that would last forever.  Above all, James was a great dad, and will be dearly missed.
