Jeanine Catherine Godsey, 85, of Hebron passed away peacefully at her home on July 24, 2025. She was born on September 2, 1939, in Covington, Kentucky.
Jeanine, known as “Nean” to her family and friends, dedicated over 30 years of her life as a Registered Nurse. Her passion for nursing was deeply rooted in her pride for having raised her children while pursuing her nursing degree, and her humor and empathy made her one of the most well-known and well-loved nurses at St. Elizabeth Hospital over the course of her career. Rarely did she go out for dinner or shopping without one of her patients or their family members recognizing her.
Jeanine’s caring hands were also known for the beautiful flower arrangements and crafts that she enjoyed making in her free time. She had an eye for decorating and loved to shop thrift stores for unique items to style throughout her house. She enjoyed deep conversations with her children, reveling in the antics of her grandchildren, and bantering with her close friends and her husband Ray, whom she dated in high school and later reconnected with and married in 2004. Ray continued to love and care for her into her final moments.
Preceding her in death were her parents, James L. and Josephine M. LeVan Bennett, along with three brothers and one sister. Her enduring legacy continues in the hearts of her children Susan Lemker, Gina VanHagen (Dan), Donna Loughmiller (Brian), Jeff Lemker (Kelly), Heather Mayfield (Mike) and her bonus children Debbie Mersch (Mark), Kathy Palmer (Mike), Rae Blok (Rob), Sandy Giordano (Brad) and Randy Godsey (Danete), as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren . She leaves behind cherished memories and invaluable lessons that will be carried forward by those who loved her.
