Brondel ‘Jerry’ Baynum, 76, of Hebron, born on June 3, 1948, in Dayton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on June 2, 2025, with his wife by his side, after a ten-month battle against pancreatic cancer. He received the Anointing of the Sick. Jerry was baptized a Catholic and a member of Seven Hills Christian Church.
As a child, Jerry attended Dale Elementary and Campbell County High School. His professional career began in the Navy as a CB, construction battalion. Jerry was a very proud Vietnam War Veteran (1967-69) embodying a spirit of honor and commitment to his country. His service shaped not only his life but also influenced those around him, leaving a legacy of dedication and pride.
After the Navy, Jerry worked ‘his way up’ in construction from being a Local 18 Union equipment operator, owning/operating semi-trucks, starting Exact Contractor Services to being a successful Superintendent for large companies that built restaurants and motels from New York City to Miami to Las Vegas. His last project was a Dormitory at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. His contributions to the industry were respected by many who had the pleasure of working beside him.
Jerry enjoyed motorcycles, camping in his RV, family gatherings, and collecting bourbon. He volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and was an active member of American Legion and the Elks.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Connie Jones Baynum; his daughters, Amy Lynn Huey (Tom) and Cara Jean Patrick (Ryan); and his devoted service dog, Scrappy. Jerry was a cherished brother to Joyce Michael (John), Ron Baynum (Mary Lou), and Rick Baynum. His greatest joy came from being a grandfather to Kristina Karrick (Kelly), Preston Huey, Tanner Gleeson, Kendall Gleeson, Landon Gleeson, Demi Rose and Dylan Patrick, who will remember him fondly as a guiding and supportive presence in their lives.
He was predeceased by his parents, Brondel and Mary Baynum, sister Bonnie Baynum, and his beloved son, Brondel Craig Baynum (1976-2018), whose memory remains cherished by his family.
