EDGEWOOD - John W. Collopy, 82, died Wednesday, May 12, at St. Elizabeth Edgewood.
He was a captain and firefighter for 27 years with the city of Covington, a lieutenant at the Kenton County Jail, retired from the former Shillito's Department Store, member of St. Pius X Church in Edgewood, Independence American Legion and vice-president of the Retired Firefighters Union.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Collopy; daughters, Marianne Ruther of Brookville, Ind. and Christinia Capozza of Hebron; sons, John Collopy of Louisville and Bob Collopy of Edgewood and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, May 14, with prayers following, at Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 15, at St. Pius X Church, Edgewood. Burial with honor guard service will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
