John Thomas Mitchell

John Thomas Mitchell, 79, of Taylor Mill, KY. died Sunday, December 14, 2025, at home with his wife. He was born November 3, 1946, in Sanford, N.C.; the son of the late Charles V. Mitchell and Louise Summerford Mitchell. John was a Forester for over 15 years, eventually transitioning into a supervisory career in manufacturing and logistics. He loved turning wood, old cars, tennis, baseball, martial arts, and running 40 marathons. He was a third generation graduate of the University of Tennessee. He is survived by his wife, Sonja (Ritchie) Mitchell; son, Jason T. Mitchell; one sister, Caroline Fuller; one grandchild, India Russell Mitchell; and two honorary grandchildren, Joe Richie and Erin Richie Gustafson. There will be a Celebration of Life service Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12-3 PM, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A. in Taylor Mill, KY.
