Linda Kay Carlson

Linda Kay (Lawson-Sandel) Carlson, 75, of Independence, Kentucky, passed away on December 10, 2025, at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 25, 1950, in Dayton, Ohio, Linda brought joy and dedication to all aspects of her life, leaving behind cherished memories for all who knew and loved her. Linda worked for 36 years for the Kenton County Master Commissioner’s Office as a court reporter, and was known for her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to truth and clarity in the legal field. Her work reflected not only exceptional skill, but also her integrity and strong sense of service. Above all else, Linda treasured her family. She loved family get-togethers, where her warmth, laughter, and caring spirit made everyone feel at home, and she cherished celebrating everyone’s birthdays. She also enjoyed playing euchre, going shopping, trying new restaurants, dancing, and making everyday moments feel special. Linda is survived by her husband, Timothy A. Carlson; her loving children, Tracey R. (Duncan) Bowman (Scott), Kerry A. (Sandel) Detzel (Dan), and Destiny L. (Sandel) Fuller (Ryan); her sister, Rosemary McNay; her grandchildren, Brittany Bowman, Courtney Bowman (Jeremy), Jordan (Sandel) Starnes (Jordan), Scotty Bowman (Bre), Jacob Fuller, Jaden Detzel, Shaylee Fuller, Jaxon Detzel, and Juliona Detzel; and her great-grandchildren, Elvis Iles, Troy Reinzan, Bella Iles, Bentley Starnes, Braylen Starnes, Mika Stansbery, and Jensen Bowman. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lannie Lawson and Martha Philpot Lawson, and her sister, Barbara Depew. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2025 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 11969 Taylor Mill Rd, Independence, KY 41051. Linda’s legacy of love and dedication will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
