Linda Sue Oldiges

Linda Sue Oldiges,77, of Independence, born on July 12, 1947, in Covington, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on January 2, 2025. She was the daughter of Charles R. Haggard and Florence E. Burke Haggard, both of whom have preceded her in death as well as 1 brother and 6 sisters.

Linda dedicated 28 years of her professional life to the Kenton County School District, where she served as the Cafeteria/Kitchen Manager for Woodland Middle School. Her commitment to providing healthy and "delicious" meals for students reflected her nurturing spirit in both her career and her personal life. It was no joke that for holiday lunches, folks from all over the county would come to Woodland for her meals. 

A former member of the Latonia Christian Church, Linda's faith played an integral part in her life. In addition to her professional accomplishments, she was known for her exceptional cooking skills, her love for watching hummingbirds, and her passion for travel (Gatlinburg was her Zen place). Linda found joy in solving word search and crossword puzzles, going to bingo, playing Euchre, Wordscapes, and 500 Rummy. Holidays, dining out, and family get-togethers were amongst the activities that brought her much happiness throughout her life.

She leaves behind a loving family, including her children Michelle Tyson (Branden Clinebell), John Oldiges (Shelly), Dale Oldiges, Mike Oldiges (Samantha), and Tricia Oldiges (Ron Scribner). Linda was also a proud sister to Marsha Crouch, aunt to a many nieces and nephews, cherished grandmother to eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and a loved one to many others.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Linda’s life during the visitation Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7:00 PM, both to be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home - Chapel A, located at 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, Kentucky, 41015.

Linda Sue Oldiges leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to her family and community that will be remembered by all who knew her.
