Lura Jean Day

Lura Jean Day, 78, of Independence, died Monday, October 9, 2023, with her family by her bedside.  She was born January 5, 1945, in Millstone, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Raymond Back and Culie Lee Sanders.   She was a homemaker and married to Donald Day 59 years, who survives.  Also surviving are her children Lisa Townsend; Jeff Day; James Day (Shannon); Todd Day; her siblings, Raymond Back, Charlie Back, Geneva Dingus, Cleta Mae Back, her grandchildren Jeremy Day (Laura); Kimberly Townsend; Tyler Day (Kacie); Amber Townsend; Molly Bonnett (Matt); Kelly Townsend; Emily Thomas (Ronald); Braeden Day; Jenevieve Day and Cooper Day; 13 great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was also preceded in death by brother Gene Back and sister Berniece McBee. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, from 5-7 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
