Mary Jean Byrley, 98, of Latonia, died Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Rosedale Green. She was born April 17, 1928, in Covington, the daughter of the late Hugh O'Hare and Mary Schlocter O'Hare. She was married to Howard Byrley, who preceded her in death in 1992. She was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Church, who loved nature and gardening, canoe rides, and was a wonderful nature writer and essay writer. She was a Dulcimer player and played at nursing homes for many years and was a member of the Hills of Kentucky Dulcimer Society. She is survived by her children, Mark Byrley (Linda); Sue Byrley (the late William Hambley); and Patrick Byrley; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by daughters Eileen and Ellen and Donna Byrley and a sister, Carol Motz. Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 PM Friday, May 15, 2026, at Holy Cross Church, where visitation will be held from 11-12 PM. Burial will follow at Mother of God Cemetery. Floral Hills is honored to serve the Byrley family.
