Matthew Alan Jones, 68, of Florence, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, December 20, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born January 12, 1957, in Covington, the son of Bertha Fulmer Jones and the late Walter Jones. He was a retired Machinist and an Army Veteran. He was married December 3, 1977, to Venita Jackson Jones, who survives. He was a graduate of Ludlow High School and is a member of the Ludlow High School and NKY Sports Hall of Fame. He was a football coach with the Erlanger Lions, baseball coach for various teams in Northern Kentucky, and was very proud and devoted to his family. He loved going to his grandchildren's sports and school activities. He is also survived by his children, Dana Moore; Kayla (Owen) Gibby; Matthew Jones (Billie); and Mindy (Charlie) Warner; his brothers, Derek and Michael (Tammy) Jones; his sisters Jean (Mark) Keillor, Kim Malin, and Merry (John) Leyes; 14 grandchildren: Allen, Mya, Alex, Aaren, Kali (Jackson), Ayden, Bobby, Kamden (Maddie), Ashten, Liam, Abel, Lana, Sophia and Levi; and two great-grandchildren, Jason and Clementine. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brothers Sonny, Kenny, Bill and Keith Jones and a sister, Linda Walker. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am, with burial immediately afterward at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Casual attire is requested. If you have Cleveland Browns or Ludlow High School clothing, we highly encourage you to wear them.
