Michael Shipwash, a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on October 4, 1956, Michael dedicated his life to his craft as a tree trimmer, known for his unwavering commitment and attention to detail in every job he undertook.
Michael possessed a personality that was famously hard-headed; he approached life with a fierce determination that was both admirable and endearing to those who knew him. His tenacity was mirrored in his interests, especially his passion for panning for gold. Michael was an avid fan of the television shows "Gold Rush" and "Yellowstone". He was also a major Duke Basketball fan and never missed a game or the chance to cheer them on.
He leaves behind many family members and friends including his siblings, Judy Nichols and Richard (Nancy) Shipwash, He was a proud father to his children, Jennifer Bell and Jason (Shannon) Shipwash, who will carry forward his legacy with pride. His grandchildren, Alexis Shipwash, Dallas (Kylie) Bell, Kaitlynn Shipwash, Jenna Shipwash, and Trent Bell; Bonus grandchildren, Ryan (Kaitlyn) Johnston and Lexie Johnston; all were sources of joy and inspiration to him, and he adored his time spent with them. Additionally, he is survived by his great-grandchildren, Wren, Cutter, Bentley, Lucy, and Weston, who brought light into his later years. There are many others who considered him and an uncle, Pappaw and friend that will miss him dearly.
Michael is preceded in death by his devoted parents, Jack and Mary Shipwash, his beloved wife, Danna Shipwash, and his brother, Howard Shipwash. Their memories will forever be a part of his story.
A visitation will be held Monday, April 7, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by the funeral service from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home - Chapel A, located at 5336 Old Taylor Mill Road, Taylor Mill, KY 41015.
As we remember Michael Shipwash, let us celebrate a man who lived life passionately, cherished his family dearly, and left an indelible mark on those around him. His spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
