Patricia Phyllis (nee Schulkers) Young

Patricia Phyllis (nee Schulkers) Young, a beloved figure in her community and cherished by her family, passed away on December 28, 2024, at the age of 75. Born on July 13, 1949, in Dayton, Kentucky, Patricia's life was a tapestry woven with love, activity, and a strong sense of community.

In her career, Patricia showcased her talents in embroidery and worked with dedication at Frisch's. She was known for her fun-loving, caring nature and active engagement in numerous community endeavors. Over a span of more than 35 years, she was a proud member of The Dayton VFW Kersten O'Day Post 2899 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Newport 280 and the Dayton Post 1285 Auxiliary . Her leadership extended as she served as a past State President of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. She volunteered her time playing bingo and  serving the veterans at the hospital. Patricia was not only involved in these organizations; she participated wholeheartedly in recreational activities, playing softball for Lite Cafe, bowling, engaging in ceramics, and indulging her creative side through embroidery. Each holiday season, her family and friends looked forward to her delightful homemade Christmas candy, a testament to her generous spirit. She also loved going to the Aronoff theatre and trying her luck at the casino playing the slot machines, her zest for life will always be remembered.

Patricia is survived by her brother Joseph Schulkers; her sister, Regina Schulkers Smith and her husband, Dennis; and her sisters-in-law, Nan Schulkers and Carol Schulkers. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many family members and friends who will remember her warmth and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Schulkers; her beloved husband, Robert Young; her son, Shaun Patrick McGuire; her brothers Virgil Schulkers and Leo Schulkers; and her sisters Virginia Geiman and Mary Ruschman Berkemeier.

Services to honor Patricia’s life will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home - Chapel A in Taylor Mill, Kentucky. Visitation is scheduled for January 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by the funeral service on January 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens on the same day at 1:00 PM.

Patricia Phyllis Young leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and devotion to community, creating an everlasting impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
