Peggy Ruth Mahoney, 76, of Florence, born on August 14, 1948, in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood. She is now at peace with her husband Paul Mahoney and able to commemorate a 56 year marriage.
Peggy was celebrated as an excellent artist, specializing in both painting and pottery. Her creative spirit brought joy to many and left a lasting impression on all who experienced her work. Throughout her life, Peggy embraced her passion for art, using it as a medium to express her thoughts, emotions, and vibrant personality.
She is survived by her loving family, including her devoted son Christopher Mahoney and his wife Astrid, as well as her cherished son Aaron S. Mahoney and daughter Shannon Mahoney. As well as 7 grandchildren Peggy also leaves behind her beloved brothers, Robert and Jim Thies, who
will forever hold dear the memories shared with her.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Thies and Geneva Wolfram Thies, whose influence and support helped shape her into the remarkable woman she became.
A talented artist, dedicated mother, and beloved sister, Peggy Ruth Mahoney will be missed dearly by all who had the privilege to know her. Her legacy of creativity and love will continue to inspire those who follow in her footsteps.

Peggy had many friends with Clay Alliance, a group of clay loving people in the Cincinnati area. Over the years she was on many committees to bring pottery to the community through educational workshops and the annual Empty Bowls event, which she made and donated dozens of bowls which
supported the Kids Cafe project to feed under served youth.
