Ruby Diane Heisler — Di. Mom. Momma. Mimi. Hollywood. Friend.

On the nightstand beside Ruby’s bed, in the basket alongside her couch, and in quiet places throughout her home, you could almost always find a steno pad.

Inside those steno pads were names—names of family, friends, clients, acquaintances, and people who simply crossed her path. To Ruby, they were never just names. They were people she remembered. People she cared about. People she prayed for.

If you are reading this obituary today, there is a good chance your name was written in one of those steno pads. And there is an even greater chance that Ruby prayed for you many times.

She loved you. She noticed you. She remembered what you had walked through. And she praised God for the victories in your life.

Ruby was born on April 14, 1935, to Floyd and Catherine McAnally in Latonia, Kentucky. Her life story was not an easy one, but the experiences she walked through helped shape the remarkable woman she would become.

Some of the moments that shaped Ruby's life was-

*At age two, Ruby and her four siblings were placed in the Children’s Home Orphanage in Devou Park following the death of her mother. It was there that Ruby spent her early childhood.

*As a teenager, Ruby was adopted by Bob and Velma Horton, who made a profound and lasting impact on her life. Their love became an important part of the story God was writing for Ruby.

*In 1955, while on a beach in Del Mar, California, Ruby met John Heisler. That meeting would change the course of her life. John would become her husband, her partner, and the love of her life. They went on to share 65 years of marriage and four blessed children.

Her greatest earthly treasures were her family. She loved being Mom to her children and Mimi to her grandchildren. She celebrated her family’s accomplishments, carried their burdens, prayed over their lives, and was always ready with a meal, a story, an encouraging word, a listening ear, and a Bible verse to claim. Her countless Sunday afternoon lunches will always be cherished—not just for the food around the table, but for the many memories that were made, and for the legacy that will live on through all of us.

For almost 40 years, Ruby loved her work with Sibcy Cline Realtors. Throughout Northern Kentucky, she helped countless families find a place to call home. Her genuine care for people was evident in every part of her life, including the way she served others through her work.

Ruby treasured her friends and held each one close to her heart. She had a special heart for people in need and loved giving freely to organizations that cared for others and pointed people toward Christ. She never simply passed through someone’s life—she remembered them, prayed for them, and carried them in her heart.

As a family, we are heartbroken by the loss of the woman we loved so dearly. And yet, we rejoice because we know she is whole again. After a lifetime of writing down names and lifting so many names before the Lord, Ruby is now face to face with God. Her name was written down in the most important book, the Lamb's Book of Life.

Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, John Heisler; and her siblings, Billie Jean Allen, Joseph McAnally, and Bobby McAnally.

Ruby is survived by her children, Shawna Keller (Rob), Jenna Lockard (Ken), Cara Farrell (David), and John Heisler (Kelly); her brother, Ronald McAnally; and her grandchildren, Alysa Ravener, Kenneth Lockard, Lindsey Berry, Jake Keller, Austin Farrell, Luke Lockard, Alec Lockard, Collin Farrell, Gavin Farrell, Ava Heisler, Jack Farrell, Deacon Heisler, Cole Heisler, and Jase Heisler.

Services will be held 1PM Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church, where visitation will be held from 11-1 PM. Floral Hills is honored to serve the Heisler family.
