Tracy Ann
Stapleton
Jul 10, 1966 — Oct 20, 2026
Tracy Ann Stapleton, born July 10, 1966, of Foster, Kentucky, passed away on October 20, 2026, at the age of 60, surrounded by those she held closest in her heart.
If there was one thing Tracy knew how to do, it was to live life on her own terms. A hardworking, independent, adventure-loving woman, Tracy believed that life was too short to stay inside when there was a whole world of God's creation waiting to be explored.
And explore she did!
Tracy had a lifelong love of horses and proudly rode horseback in 21 different states. While some people collect souvenirs from their travels, Tracy collected miles in the saddle, beautiful scenery, and stories worth telling. She wasn't afraid of a new trail, a little dirt, or an adventure that took her somewhere she'd never been before.
When she wasn't exploring the countryside on horseback, there was a good chance you'd find Tracy behind a lawn mower. As the proud owner and operator of her own landscaping business, she took her work seriously, especially her mowing lines. Crooked lines? Not on Tracy's watch! She loved the satisfaction of a freshly mowed lawn and a job done right. Her incredible work ethic was something she took tremendous pride in, and she wasn't afraid to roll up her sleeves and get things done.
But of all the trails she traveled and adventures she experienced, Tracy would tell you that her greatest adventure was marrying Kenny. Together for eight wonderful years, Kenny was her partner in life and the person she chose for her biggest journey of all. After riding horseback through 21 States, she discovered that marriage might just be the wildest ride yet, but it was also her favorite.
Tracy was blessed with an incredible group of friends known as "The Cripps." While the name alone is enough to make you curious, what mattered most was the friendship, laughter, and love they shared. Tracy treasured her people, and those lucky enough to be part of her circle knew just how special she was.
And then there was Otis. Her beloved dog, loyal companion, and perhaps the most dedicated employee she ever had, although his paycheck was likely paid in treats! As Tracy navigated the challenges of ALS in her later years, Otis faithfully served as her service animal, providing help, comfort, companionship, and unconditional love. He was far more than a dog. He was family.
Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Shirley Moffett Jr., and her grandparents.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Stapleton; her mother, Marilyn Rose (Cooper) Moffett; her sister, Toni Gleason (John); her incredible circle of friends, affectionately known as "The Cripps"; and her beloved dog and loyal companion, Otis.
Tracy will be remembered for her fierce independence, unmatched work ethic, love of adventure, and wonderful sense of humor. She knew the value of hard work, the joy of a good laugh, and the importance of making memories while you have the chance. ALS may have brought challenges she never asked for, but it could never erase the incredible life she built or the adventures she experienced.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to ALS United Ohio in Tracy's honor, helping to support individuals and families affected by ALS and the continued fight against this devastating disease.
If Tracy could leave behind one final message, it wouldn't be about slowing down, playing it safe, or worrying about the little things. It would be the same advice she lived by:
"Go outside. Have an adventure. See what God created!"
So, in Tracy's honor, take that trip, ride that horse, enjoy the sunshine, and make some memories. And if you happen to mow the grass along the way, for goodness' sake, keep those lines straight!
