Vincent Barry
Overton
April 15, 1963 – May 27, 2026
Vincent Barry Overton, 63, of Covington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Hospice in Edgewood, Kentucky with his husband, Erik Freudenberg, by his side.
Born on April 15, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York, Vince brought a vibrant loving energy into this world that only grew brighter and brighter as his life progressed. He was the cherished son of the late Thomas Overton and Ruby Estelle Burks Overton. For almost four beautiful years, Vince shared an incredible life with Erik, his soulmate and partner (and beloved husband for the last two years), building a life filled with deep devotion, passion, laughter, singing, family, friendship, travel and pursuing their shared dreams. Together they created 'Deeper Water Community,' a life coaching and inspirational organization helping individuals find their own authentic voice and path forward in their lives.
Vince’s greatest legacy is his family, whom he loved deeply and unconditionally. He is survived by his children, Cody Overton, Isaac Overton (passed at age 11), Elijah (Laura) Overton, Solomon Overton, Cassiah Overton, Asa Overton, and Moriah (Mason) Overton, each of them holding a precious place in his heart. He also leaves behind his former spouse and good friend, Becky Overton, with whom he has shared a lifelong bond of loving and parenting their 7 children (and now 9 grandchildren) together.
He was a proud and loving grandfather to Erick, Easton, Ellie, Emmi, Khari, Mazaeiq, Lenora, Miles, and Parker, who brought endless joy to his later years. Vince is also survived by his loving siblings, Carmen Overton, Janet Overton-Pauldo, Terry Overton, Steve (Diane) Overton, and Beverly (Sharpe) Malekebu; his former sister-in-law and dear friend, Brenda Applequist; former daughters-in- law Bre Overton and Destiny H; beloved nephew RayShawn Pauldo and cousin Marilyn (Darryl) Brandon-Haries to whom he was especially close; his best friends Michael Fair and Naomi Warmack, and an extraordinary number of relatives and friends across the US (too many to name) who are all part of a massive extended family whom he cared about deeply.
Vince's life is best described as an adventurous, passionate spiritual journey toward achieving authenticity, that culminated in him discovering incredible love, joy, reconciliation and freedom in his last days. His magnetic presence and captivating vocal talent touched literally thousands of people across the US and Europe as he sang everywhere he went. In the coming months he will be 'officially' celebrated at events in 4 cities he loved, among the people he enjoyed most - the karaoke communities where he sang his heart out and shared his talent and brightness freely with others. Vince is in a better place now after a valiant fight to overcome colon cancer, and leaves behind a legacy of love, healing and hope to all the lives he has touched. A radiant light has left the earth but now shines brightly forever in the sky!
Friends and family are invited to honor his beautiful soul journey at any of the following Celebration of Life Karaoke Nights, where heartfelt tributes to Vince will be shared and sung into the wee hours of the morning:
The Floral Hills Funeral Home is deeply honored to serve the Overton and Freudenberg families during this time of loss. Vince's warmth, generous spirit, and bright smile will be missed beyond measure, but his love remains a guiding light for everyone who knew him.
