Zachary Nicholas Mertens

Zachary Nicholas Mertens, 20, of Burlington, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 10, 2026, at Silver Falls State Park, Oregon. He was born June 16, 2006, in Edgewood, the son of Jason Mitchell and Alicia Sue Rawlings Mertens. He was employed at Mid America Pools and was a 2025 graduate of Bellevue High School. He loved basketball, camping and hiking. 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his brother, RJ Mertens; grandparents Joanne Mertens (the late Doug); Kathy and Paul Varin and Gary Rawlings; his girlfriend, Lacey Ball; his aunts and uncles Bryan (Katie), Sean (Leslie), Amy and Gary, and cousins, Katie, Baine, Sierra and Patrick and nieces Myla Mertens and Violet Mertens and many many friends. 

There will be a visitation from 4-7 PM Tuesday, August18, 2026, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home, Chapel A. Floral Hills is honored to serve the Mertens family. (Food during visitation will be provided).
